The coaches want to strongly encourage you to go to the YCC tryouts even if you're even a little bit interested. What is YCC? YCC stands for Youth Club Championships. It is the nationals event for the best young ultimate players in the country. https://usaultimate.org/youth/club-championships.
In 2023, we had ten Parkway players make a YCC team, and many of our players are planning on trying out this year.
This summer, nationals will take place on August 3-5 (Saturday-Monday) in Aurora, CO just east of Denver. The Dorsches will be traveling to watch again.
YCC makes you a better player. If you really enjoy the sport of ultimate and want to take your game to the next level, coming to YCC and putting big game experience under your belt with the best players in STL, across all high schools, is the way to do it. In addition to the STL U20 boys and U20 mixed teams, U17 boys and U17 girls teams are being added this year.
Costs for the event (player fee, travel, lodging, jersey, some food) in the past have run about $400-$500 per player. There is a real push this year to do some fundraising if costs are a hurdle to get players to go. TRYOUTS: Come to all that you can!
1st Tryout: SATURDAY MAY 11th 10AM to 1PM at SLU High School
Park in the science center parking lot. If the gate is operational, tell them you're here for SLUH. They might make you take a ticket but they will instruct you to use a back exit that has no gate that will allow you to leave for free. https://tinyurl.com/bdefxea2
2nd Tryout: MONDAY MAY 13TH 6-9PM at SLU high school
Trying out for the team, including coming to the first two practices, is like a free advanced clinic. The YCC coaches have a great deal of experience and knowledge.
